'This book is not just a practical handbook; it is also the fruit of two exceptional people's experience: Serge and Anne Ginger. It reflects their long international experience in several methods such as psychoanalysis, psychodrama, Gestalt Therapy - which is highly indebted to them – and EMDR.
This guide comes at a time when, in France and several other European countries, new rules and regulations for the practice of psychotherapy are starting to appear. It's a practical vade mecum for the beginner psychotherapist, but is also an invitation to his experienced colleagues, to share profound reflections stemming from their long-standing careers as psychotherapists and trainers.
I hope that this work will be as successful as it deserves to be [in making] these insights and pieces of advice accessible not only to all young practitioners, but also to more experienced ones. It will be especially useful for psychotherapy training institutes.'
- Mony Elkaim, Chairman of the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP), from the Foreword
