Desire in the Renaissance: Psychoanlysis and Literature

Drawing on psychoanalytical approaches, this study contains discusions of the ways that the inner life is depicted in the Renaissance. It demonstrates how much of Renaissance literature represents themes prominent in psychoanalysis: mistaken identity, voyeurism, incest and the uncanny.
