Reviews and Endorsements

'Bowlby and Winnicott’s students give us new perspectives in a lively, authentic and scholarly picture of these important figures, whose influence and major contributions to many fields have been immense. I welcome this informative, entertaining and thought-provoking book and I hope that it will be widely read.'
- Mario Marrone, psychiatrist; psychoanalyst; founder member and past Chairman of the International Attachment Network

'Part labor of love, part reminiscence, part historical exegesis, these essays are a valuable testimony to the significance of two pillars of British child advocacy. The authors - students, but not blind followers - bring scholarship, enthusiasm, and even love to the task of illuminating lines of convergence and divergence between Winnicott and Bowlby. We owe them our gratitude for their living history and keen insights.'
- Dodi Goldman, Faculty and Supervising Analyst, William Alanson White Institute

'John Bowlby, Donald Winnicott (and his wife Clare) should not be just figures from the past. Their theoretical formulations and influence on social policy laid some of the foundations for good practice in child welfare. This book brings them and their ideas to life, reminding us of the enduring values which should underlie practice.'
- Olive Stevenson, distinguished expert in the fields of child and adult care; and Professor Emeritus of Social Studies, Nottingham University

'An era is brought alive along with the men, psychoanalysts and scientists whose contributions provide a richly nourishing, secure and fertile base for today’s practitioners, thinkers and researchers. This book is a vivid introduction to their achievements with leads to contemporary developments based on their work.'
- Professor Saul Pena, London-trained Founder of Peruvian Psychoanalytical Society; Past President Latin American Psychoanalytical and Psychotherapeutic Associations, Professor of Psychiatry, UNMSM Lima
