This edited book looks at how a variety of female therapists understand men's issues in the context of their clinical work. Each chapter is written by a female mental health professional and explores how they got involved in men's issues, case studies and examples from their own practices that illustrate their approach, and their own assessments of what works best with male clients. Topics considered include core treatment issues, such as transference and counter-transference, beginning and ending therapy with men, and ethical dilemmas; working in different therapy modalities (group counseling, couples counseling, etc.); and doing therapy with various populations of men, such as violent men, depressed men, and men of different ethnicities. The book will conclude with an edited transcript of a discussion between the authors about their experiences working with male clients, as well as an afterword about the material in the book from the perspective of a male psychologist who is experienced in the area of men's issues.
