Impact Techniques for Therapists

Impact Therapy, developed by Ed Jacobs in 1992, is a form of counseling that uses multisensory techniques and tools in order to integrate therapist-client exchanges on not only a verbal but also visual and kinesthetic level. Drawing heavily on the work of Milton Erickson, this form of therapy uses a creative and interactive approach that respects the different dimensions by which a client processes information and therefore helps to integrate growth and change. To better disseminate the practice among a francophone audience, Beaulieu wrote and published the first edition of "Techniques d'Impact" in 1998 as a handbook for therapists seeking to integrate multisensory techniques into their practice. Beaulieu uses concrete examples of object and visual devices that can be introduced into the therapy process and illustrates their different uses. The model set forth in this book may be integrated into the practice of psychiatrists, psychotherapists, child psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and counselors. Heidi Hoff translated from French to English a new edition of the work, with a new and more encompassing introduction as well as updated case examples.
