On Children Who Privilege the Body: Reflections of an Independent Psychotherapist brings together selected papers from the career of Ann Horne, and interrogates her vast experience in the field of child and adolescent mental health.

Many of the papers collected in this volume reflect Ann Horne's important work with 'troubled' children and young people, and the technique and theory on which it is based. Across her writing, she demonstrates that the roots of their deviant behaviour are to be found in their earliest experiences, which not only fail to offer them an opportunity to thrive but also actively contributes to their dysfunctional behaviour.

On Children Who Privilege the Body will be of considerable interest and use to child psychotherapists, social workers and all other mental health professionals working with children and adolescents in a range of settings.

About the Author(s)

Ann Horne trained in the Independent tradition at the BAP. She has discovered that retirement (after 10 years latterly at the Portman Clinic, London) can become very crowded and makes occasional sorties from behind the keyboard to speak and teach in the UK and abroad.
