In The Art of Strategic Therapy, the reader can for the first time experience Jay Haley's progressing work from weekly sessions with a training group where he discusses supervisory diagnostics and interview planning, and offers line directives and case debriefings. He handles a variety of techniques in treating depression, violence and psychosis in therapy with couples, children, families and different ethnic groups. Anthropologist Madeleine Richeport-Haley provides critical analysis of the cultural backgrounds of the various ethnic groups in treatment.

'This book represents a must read for all interested in teh evolution of psychotherapy focused on how to get results in a short period of time. The case examples are clear and enlightening and the techniques are so well devised that they appear simple. This is the essence of the art.'
