This volume presents a selected series of papers by Leo Rangell. A giant of psychoanalysis over the course of six decades,
Rangell sought to unify the old and the new, while resolving apparent contradictions at every level. In this volume, we
wish to share with the reader a special glimpse of Leo Rangell’s contributions. We present a series of Rangell’s papers, selected
by Leo himself, along with thoughtful commentaries by contributors familiar with his work. Each commentary deals with the
significance of the article, in relation to some of the major themes of Rangell’s work, and in relation to contemporary clinical
and theoretical issues within psychoanalysis.
