Wounded Angels: Lessons of Courage from Children in Crisis uses vignettes of children in crisis placements to portray how troubling behaviors can be utilized as clues to what can help children and their families heal after traumatic stress. This is a book about listening and learning to the messages children send and then using what children show us as pathways that can guide caregivers and practitioners to often hidden conflicts and opportunities for developing emotionally supportive relationships.

Vignettes illustrate how caregivers and practitioners can follow threads of caring to identify resources in a child's life including who a child looks to for help, who helped the child in the past when they were hurt or sick, and who cares enough to guide and protect the child into the future.
